The production process of electroplated signs is like a carefully choreographed micro dance, with each step being rigorous and full of technical content. Firstly, the soul of this process - the design and production of the master mold - is the starting point of the entire electroplating journey. Designers use advanced computer-aided design software or rely on exquisite manual carving skills to present the brand's logo, patterns, text, and other elements in the most precise and delicate way on the master mold. This master mold is usually made of metal materials with good conductivity and corrosion resistance, such as stainless steel or copper. The surface smoothness and accuracy requirements are extremely high, and even extremely small defects may be magnified in the subsequent electroplating process, thereby affecting the quality of the final label.
When the master mold is ready in the electroplating tank, a magical gathering of metal ions begins. The electroplating tank contains a carefully prepared electrolyte containing metal ions (commonly nickel, copper, gold, etc.). When a direct current is applied, it is as if magic is awakened. Driven by the electric field, the metal ions migrate neatly and orderly towards the surface of the mother mold like well-trained soldiers, and deposit layer by layer. This process requires extremely precise control of many parameters such as current density, temperature, metal ion concentration, and electroplating time. Any slight deviation in any link may lead to uneven thickness, rough surface, or other defects in the electroplated layer. After a long and patient wait, metal ions gradually accumulate on the master mold to form a metal layer with a certain thickness and strength, perfectly replicating the shape and texture of the master mold. At this point, the prototype of the sign has begun to emerge, but it still needs to go through a series of grinding to truly shine.
